Ending AIDS. That's the goal. |
The United Nations made a commitment to "Fast Track" ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030. That means HIV non-profit organizations like Together! ACT Now are stepping up to help make this goal a reality.
|
How |
By having zero HIV discrimination as well as 95% of those who are HIV positive knowing their HIV status, 95% of those individuals on treatment, and 95% of those on treatment and virally suppressed.
|
2020 |
In order to meet the 2030 goals, UNAIDS set targets for 2020. You may have heard of the 90-90-90 goal. This 90% goal is the first step to 95% in 2030. Each country worked to meet this goal. Below we have Malawi's data listed.

T!AN |
To hit these goals, Together! ACT Now has four main programs that work to end AIDS in Malawi. Learn more below.

Keep up with how T!AN is ending HIV through theatre, education, and access |
Theatre to End AIDSStigma is one of the biggest problems contributing to HIV in Malawi. T!AN has worked across 125 villages where our local troupe of actors provide HIV education through an engaging theatre-based approach. Anywhere from 200 to 2,000 people show up to our shows where we work to break down HIV stigma and discrimination. Free in-village HIV testing is offered at every show.
|
HIV Village Community GroupsT!AN's Stronger Together! Community HIV Village Group is a program that includes local villagers in the change process. In each village adopted by T!AN, we work with the local elders to create a group of 20 community members. This group is provided with an intensive week long HIV workshop so that they become HIV experts for their community. After this, we facilitate weekly sessions where we help the community create their own performing art pieces on HIV. Once they're ready, we help them host their own village shows where we then provide onsite HIV testing and a mobile medicine clinic.
|
Mobile Medicine ClinicsOne of the biggest obstacles to ending HIV in Malawi is the lack of access to HIV information, testing, and medicine. While testing and medicine is free, transportation to the clinic is not. At Together! ACT Now, we work to end this obstacle by bringing the information, testing and medicine to the village. With our mobile medicine clinics we provide general check-ups, vaccines, and yes, you guessed it, HIV medicine.

Rebuild Primary SchoolsThe longer a child is in school, the less likely they are to contract HIV. The only problem is, many schools were built in the 1960s and intended for hundreds of students, but they now house thousands of students under crumbling infrastructure. During the rainy season, many children are unable to attend school. Young girls are less likely to return after the season ends and this is where many end up dropping out. In rebuilding classrooms we incorporate all usable elements of the existing structures in order to save money in our building efforts.
